Baseball Recap: Westminster Academy Wins Going Away Against Monarch

Westminster Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Monarch on Monday. The Lions blew past the Knights 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Ryan Dejnak made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Dejnak was also big at the plate, earning two runs and two stolen bases. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Javier Sanchez, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Easton Foster was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Westminster Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Monarch, they dropped their record down to 4-16-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Westminster Academy will head out on the road to face off against Piper at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monarch, they will host Pine Crest at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
