Volleyball Recap: Balboa Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Jefferson last Friday, Balboa came back down to earth. The Buccaneers lost 3-0 to the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Leading St. Ignatius College Preparatory to victory were Valerie Chu and Bryce Killion. Chu had five digs and two aces, while Killion had 12 digs. What's more, Chu racked up 27 assists, the most she's had over her last 12 contests. Emma Wu also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Balboa has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-6.

Coming up, Balboa will take on Galileo at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they will be playing at home against Lowell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
