Mario Cuevas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Cuevas wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trip Egbert, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Egbert's first of the season. Another was Bo Bowers, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run.
Teague lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Elkhart, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Buffalo on Tuesday.
Cole Horton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
The win made it two in a row for Teague and bumps their season record up to 14-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Elkhart, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.
Elkhart's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Teague hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314.
