Baseball Game Preview: Owen Warhorses vs. Mountain Heritage Cougars

Owen is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will challenge the Mountain Heritage Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Owen comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

On Monday, Owen came up short against Erwin and fell 7-3.

Stephen Anderson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. He also put up a run, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Burpeau, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Mountain Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against North Buncombe, falling 9-3.

Mountain Heritage also got a good showing from Branson Fox, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Cason Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Levi McCurry was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Owen's record now sits at 0-5. As for Mountain Heritage, their record is now 0-4.

Owen came out on top in a nail-biter against Mountain Heritage in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Will Owen repeat their success, or does Mountain Heritage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
