Football Recap: Riverdale Beats Smyrna for Their Fourth Straight Win

Riverdale won the last time they faced Smyrna and things went their way on Thursday too. The Warriors strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 31-13. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

A big part of Riverdale's victory came down to the chemistry between Gavin Hampton and his top target Corben Reynolds. Hampton threw for 255 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes while Reynolds picked up 123 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hampton's passing game has become a key predictor of Riverdale's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Riverdale's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Smyrna, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Riverdale and Smyrna will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Warriors see the field they'll take on Siegel at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Smyrna, their break will end when they face Blackman on the 17th.
