Softball Recap: Wissahickon Trojans vs. Quakertown Panthers

Wissahickon extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They came up short against the Quakertown Panthers, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 back in April.

Wissahickon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Darnell, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double. Ava Frederick also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Quakertown, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 18-0).

On Quakertown's side, Ava Zebert spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Gianna Santangelo was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Colleen Gallagher, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wissahickon will face off against Hatboro-Horsham at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Quakertown, they will square off against Conestoga at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
