Volleyball Recap: Red Rock Scorpions vs. North Valley Christian Academy Lions
If Red Rock was feeling good off their 3-0 takedown of Mayer last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Rock Scorpions wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2021.
The final score came out to 25-5, 25-18, 25-8.
North Valley Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Mackenzie Benso, who had six aces and four digs. It was the first time this season that Benso served two or more aces. Gabby Rice also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Red Rock's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for North Valley Christian Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Rock will challenge Mountainside at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Red Rock is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they will head out to take on Northland Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
