Basketball Recap: Columbia County Christian Takes a Loss

Columbia County Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-43 heartbreaker at the hands of Kankakee Trinity Academy.

Despite the defeat, Columbia County Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Pierce Cughan shot 41% from the field to rack up 24 points and eight rebounds. Cughan has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 20 times he's played. Eli Lenker was another key player, putting up ten points.

Leading Kankakee Trinity Academy to victory were Akira Hori and Vinny Hendrix. Hori went 7-for-15 en route to 24 points and three steals, while Hendrix posted 16 points and eight boards.

Columbia County Christian's loss dropped their record down to 25-7. As for Kankakee Trinity Academy, their record is now 23-11.

As of now, neither Columbia County Christian nor Kankakee Trinity Academy have any future games scheduled.
