Baseball Game Preview: Edinburg Bobcats vs. Harlingen Cardinals

For the second straight game, Edinburg will face off against Harlingen. The Bobcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m.

Edinburg heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Harlingen by a score of 4-2. The Bobcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For Harlingen's part, Dominic Gonzales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Gonzales has become a key player for the Cardinals: the team is 6-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayden Nunez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Justin Noyola was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Edinburg's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Harlingen, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
