Basketball Recap: Alief Hastings' Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Alief Hastings ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past the Alief Elsik Rams with a 50-45 victory. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Rams are ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Amyah Weathersby, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 23 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. Favour Emeka was another key player, putting up 14 points and seven rebounds.

Alief Hastings' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. As for Alief Elsik, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

Alief Hastings will head out to challenge Fulshear at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alief Hastings is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Alief Elsik, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Foster at 7:00 p.m. Foster will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Alief Elsik surely won't give up without a fight.
