Baseball Game Preview: Mattawan Wildcats vs. Dakota Cougars

Mattawan has won seven straight games at home, while Dakota has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Wildcats will welcome the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mattawan 2.6, Dakota 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Mattawan gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Norrix by a score of 6-1.

The team relied heavily on Troy Scarff, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Stratton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Dakota sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Chippewa Valley on Wednesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Big Reds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Mattawan is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Dakota, their win bumped their record up to 19-7-1.
