Football Game Preview: Florida Christian Patriots vs. Coral Shores Hurricanes

The Florida Christian Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Coral Shores Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Florida Christian's defense has only allowed 13.6 points per game this season, so Coral Shores' offense will have their work cut out for them.

Florida Christian is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing SmartEn Sports Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Patriots blew the Goats out of the water with a 43-6 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Patriots had established a 23-point advantage.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Cordell Gibson and Timothy Chennis. Gibson rushed for 102 yards and two scores on only 12 carries while Chennis gained 58 total yards and two touchdowns. Gibson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks, forcing one fumble, and making two total tackles.

Florida Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Florida Christian's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB ten times. It was truly a group effort as Osmanny Montano, Chennis, and Gibson picked up two apiece.

Meanwhile, Coral Shores fell victim to Palmer Trinity and their airtight defense on Monday. They lost 23-0 to the Falcons. The Hurricanes just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Florida Christian pushed their record up to 3-1-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.8 points on average over those games. As for Coral Shores, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Florida Christian strolled past Coral Shores in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 by a score of 21-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
