Basketball Recap: Irmo Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

If Newberry wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Irmo, they should've done a better job of containing Abby Livingston. The Irmo Yellow Jackets took their match on Saturday with ease, bagging a 75-11 victory over the Newberry Bulldogs thanks in part to Livingston, who went 14 of 27 en route to 32 points and seven steals. Livingston is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Another player making a difference was Jayla Anderson, who posted seven points in addition to 11 rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks gave her a new career-high.

Irmo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Newberry, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Irmo and Gaffney will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Irmo comes in on three and Gaffney on 11. As for Newberry, they will challenge East Gaston at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
