Basketball Game Preview: Lanier Longhorns vs. Johns Creek Gladiators

The Lanier Longhorns will head out to square off against the Johns Creek Gladiators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Lanier was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to North Gwinnett. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Longhorns came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 251st).

Meanwhile, Johns Creek hadn't done well against Chattahoochee recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Johns Creek came out on top against Chattahoochee by a score of 61-49. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Gladiators as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Johns Creek's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Lanier, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Lanier strolled past Johns Creek in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 62-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lanier since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
