Softball Game Preview: Gautier Gators vs. Vancleave Bulldogs

Gautier is 0-10 against Vancleave since March of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Gautier Gators will head out on the road to square off against the Vancleave Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Gautier has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Gautier had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Vancleave put an end to it on Tuesday. Gautier came up short against Vancleave, falling 18-2.

For Vancleave's part, Brianna Webster was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Webster hit this season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Ross, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Vancleave always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Gautier's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Vancleave, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
