Softball Recap: Enloe Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Enloe hadn't beaten Athens Drive on the road since April 4, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. Enloe came out on top against Athens Drive by a score of 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Avery Modlin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jaycey Morrrison and Kylan Wright did most of the damage at the plate: Morrrison went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles, while Wright scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Those two doubles gave Morrrison a new career-high. Emily Peters also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Enloe's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Athens Drive, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

Enloe and Athens Drive will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Enloe sees the field they'll take on Sanderson at 4:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Athens Drive, their break will end when they face Wake Prep Academy at 4:30 p.m. on April 7.
