Basketball Recap: Angel Marquez and Marcus Gillete Secure Win for Archbishop Carroll

There's no place like home for Archbishop Carroll, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-41 win over the Braddock Bulldogs on Friday. For Archbishop Carroll, this counts as revenge for the 74-60 victory Braddock walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Leading Archbishop Carroll to victory were Marcus Gillete and Angel Marquez. Gillete went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points, while Marquez dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Marquez a new career-high. Sebastian Ramirez Benavidez was another key player, putting up eight points.

Archbishop Carroll's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. As for Braddock, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Archbishop Carroll will look to defend their home court on Monday against Palm Glades Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. Archbishop Carroll is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. As for Braddock, they will challenge Coral Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Coral Park knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Braddock likes a good challenge.
