Basketball Recap: Toppenish Skates Past Ephrata with Ease

It was a proper cat-fight when Toppenish faced off against Ephrata on Friday. The Toppenish Wildcats simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Ephrata Tigers 67-17. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 32 points or more this season.

Leading Toppenish to victory were Viviana Hernandez and Jewelisa Landa. Hernandez went 5 of 8 to rack up 12 points and four steals, while Landa posted ten points and five steals. Toppenish is undefeated when Landa posts three or more steals, but 8-9 otherwise. Kyra Hurley was another key player, putting up nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Toppenish smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Toppenish's record is now 12-9. As for Ephrata, they dropped their record down to 0-21 with the loss, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Toppenish will take on Quincy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Toppenish is facing Quincy at the right time seeing as Quincy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Ephrata does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
