Softball Recap: Lake Hornets vs. Pisgah Dragons

Lake and Pisgah squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Lake had to settle for second. They lost 11-4 to the Pisgah Dragons. Lake has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Pisgah's part, Ally Young and Alyssa McMurtrey made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Young tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, McMurtrey tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Young has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. At bat, Young scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while McMurtrey went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddi Byrd, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with a home run and three RBI.
