Preview: Dunellen Destroyers vs. Sayreville Bombers

The Dunellen Destroyers will head out on the road to take on the Sayreville Bombers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Dunellen's defense has only allowed 28.3 points per game this season, so Sayreville's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Dunellen stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 52-24 victory over East Brunswick Vo-Tech. With Dunellen ahead 30-3 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Dunellen relied on the efforts of Emily Chalecki, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Wendy Woll, who scored 18 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Chalecki is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Brielle Villanueva-Jadotte, who scored three points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Sayreville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 15th straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 45-28 to Wardlaw Hartridge. While losing is never fun, Sayreville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Wardlaw Hartridge is ranked 136th).

Dunellen is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Sayreville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-21.
