Baseball Game Preview: Sandpoint Bulldogs vs. Coeur d'Alene Vikings

Sandpoint hasn't had much luck against Coeur d'Alene recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Sandpoint will square off against Coeur d'Alene at 2:00 p.m. Sandpoint will be strutting in after a win while Coeur d'Alene will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Sandpoint turned things around against Lakeland on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Hawks.

Brennan Shaw was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Lehman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Coeur d'Alene might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Moscow who claimed the real prize. Coeur d'Alene fell just short of Moscow by a score of 9-8. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bears since on Tuesday.

Coeur d'Alene also got a good showing from Will Beckenhauer, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Beckenhauer has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dylan Suitch was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Tyler Voorhees was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Sandpoint's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Coeur d'Alene, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Sandpoint came up short against Coeur d'Alene in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 13-9. Can Sandpoint avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
