Legacy won against Horizon last Thursday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Everything went the Lightning's way against the Longmont Trojans as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Lightning, who have now won six matches in a row.
Braidon Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Christopher Jewett looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Sanchez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. He has become a key player for Legacy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Olsen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Legacy's record now sits at 7-4. As for Longmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
Legacy will be playing in front of their home fans against Silver Creek at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Lightning's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raptors have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Longmont, they will challenge Mead at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3.8, the Mavericks 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
