Basketball Recap: Stewarts Creek Takes a Loss

Stewarts Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Cookeville Cavaliers on the road by a 56-37 margin. While losing is never fun, the Red Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 20th).

Cookeville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cara Lee Gilbert led the charge by going 5-for-9 on her way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Macy Hudson, who posted six points and five boards.

Stewarts Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Cookeville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Stewarts Creek nor Cookeville have any future games scheduled.
