Recap: Fergus Golden Eagles vs. Malta Mustangs
The Fergus Golden Eagles lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were the victim of a rough 58-37 loss at the hands of Malta. While losing is never fun, Fergus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Malta is ranked second).
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brody Jenness, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Kieran Netburn was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three blocks.
Fergus has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Malta, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fergus will take on Sidney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Malta, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Roy/Winifred at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Roy/Winifred's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
