Softball Game Preview: Columbia Central Lions vs. Coffee County Central Red Raiders

Columbia Central is 1-9 against Coffee County Central since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lions will face off against the Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Columbia Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Coffee County Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Columbia Central came out on top against Warren County on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Lions took their contest against the Pioneers & Lady Pioneers 5-2. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Pioneers & Lady Pioneers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Coffee County Central posted their closest victory since April 5th on Sunday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Tullahoma 3-1.

Lily Norman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits.

On the hitting side, Paisley Campbell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Arnold, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coffee County Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tullahoma only posted a batting average of .130.

Columbia Central pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Coffee County Central, their record is now 20-12.

Columbia Central couldn't quite get it done against Coffee County Central when the teams last played on April 10th as they fell 4-0. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
