Football Recap: Grayslake North Falls to Vernon Hills in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Grayslake North unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Vernon Hills Cougars at home by a 17-0 margin on Friday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Giuseppe Urso was nothing short of spectacular for Vernon Hills: he rushed for 137 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Urso also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making one tackle. Colin McMurray helped out on the ground, rushing for 94 yards.

Coming up, Grayslake North will challenge Elgin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Vernon Hills, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
