Centralia is 2-8 against Macon since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Panthers will welcome the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Centralia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Centralia fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Eldon on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5.
Henry Bohlmeyer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Anthony Ford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Macon). They put the hurt on Hallsville with a sharp 18-3 win on Thursday. Considering the Tigers have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Preston Burns looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryder Lewis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Hagan Ritter was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Macon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Macon's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Centralia, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Centralia couldn't quite get it done against Macon when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
