Baseball Game Preview: Shady Spring Tigers vs. Midland Trail Patriots

The Shady Spring Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Midland Trail Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Shady Spring will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Shady Spring made easy work of WestSide and carried off an 18-4 victory. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Jalon Bailey was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Shady Spring is undefeated when Bailey posts two or more runs, but 5-8-1 otherwise. Cutter Boggs was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Shady Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Cameron hit Midland Trail with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots fell 11-6 to the Dragons.

Greg Cramer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

The win got Shady Spring back to even at 8-8-1. As for Midland Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything went Shady Spring's way against Midland Trail in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Shady Spring made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
