Five-star point guard Darius Garland stays home and commits to Vanderbilt

The top high school basketball prospect in Tennessee is staying home.

Point guard Darius Garland of Brentwood Academy told Paul Biancardi of ESPN on Monday that he has committed to Vanderbilt.

Regarded as the No. 10 overall prospect in the Class of 2018 by 247Sports and the No. 3 point guard, Garland is the highest-rated pledge in Vanderbilt history.



Garland has earned Mr. Basketball honors in Tennessee each of the past two seasons. As a junior, he averaged 23.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game last season in leading the Eagles to a state title and Top 10 national ranking by MaxPreps.
