Baseball Recap: Amboy Clippers vs. Lena-Winslow Panthers
Amboy had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 6-8 to make it five. They lost 12-1 to the Lena-Winslow Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Clippers of the 13-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
As for Lena-Winslow, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
For Lena-Winslow's part, Maverick Cass made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Cass posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Aiden Wild was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Brody Cox also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amboy will challenge Polo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lena-Winslow, they will venture away from home to challenge Orangeville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
