Baseball Recap: Guerin Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Three

Guerin Catholic entered their tilt with Danville on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They skirted past the Warriors 8-6.

Finn Holden looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Guerin Catholic is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Nolan Ratcliff and Ian Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Ratcliff went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Taylor went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Taylor has posted since back in April. Brody Cain also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Guerin Catholic pushed their record up to 13-12 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Danville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.

Guerin Catholic and Danville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Golden Eagles will face off against Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.21 runs per game on average), something Guerin Catholic will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Danville, they will challenge Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
