Baseball Game Preview: Caldwell Academy Eagles vs. South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls

The Caldwell Academy Eagles will venture away from home to take on the South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Caldwell Academy fell victim to Greensboro Day School and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 6-0 to the Bengals. The Eagles have struggled against the Bengals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meetings.

Caldwell Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Plasman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave Plasman a new career-high.

Meanwhile, South Stanly came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Knights get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Considering the Rowdy Rebel Bulls have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

South Stanly's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Caldwell Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Caldwell Academy might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from South Stanly in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Caldwell Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
