Van had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Alvarado Indians as they made off with an 11-5 win. Considering the Vandals have won five games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Asher Hawkins, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Smith, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Van was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Van's victory bumped their record up to 8-3-1. As for Alvarado, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Van will take on Hughes Springs in a tournament on Thursday. As for Alvarado, they will be taking part in a tournament against Ranchview at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Ranchview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
