Basketball Game Preview: Layton Christian Academy Eagles vs. Overland Trailblazers

The Layton Christian Academy Eagles will take on the Overland Trailblazers in a holiday battle at at 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Layton Christian Academy came up short against Brighton on Monday, falling 64-41. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Overland). They breezed by Pueblo South to the tune of 76-6 on Saturday. With that win, the Trailblazers brought their scoring average up to 54.2 points per game.

Overland's win came from a few key players Layton Christian Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Michaela Halton, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. The game was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sasha Davis, who made all 7 shots she took to post 14 points along with five assists and five steals.

Overland was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matchups.

Layton Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Overland, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
