Softball Recap: Palmyra-Eagle Comes Up Short

Palmyra-Eagle had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-13 to make it seven. They lost 9-0 to the Williams Bay Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-4 loss two weeks ago.

Palmyra-Eagle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn West, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Williams Bay, the victory got them back to even at 7-7. Considering they have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Williams Bay's side, Sarena Brown made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Brown has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Nickelsen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Tatum Hermance was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Palmyra-Eagle didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 win against Parkview on the 14th. As for Williams Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 16-3 defeat against Johnson Creek on the 15th.
