Basketball Recap: Hardin County Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Hardin County duked it out with Northside Baptist Christian on Saturday. The Cougars took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Cougars lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-24 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Hardin County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Benna Williams shot 43% from the field en route to 27 points and eight rebounds. The game was Williams' third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Olivia Carpenter, who posted eight points and eight boards.

Hardin County's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Northside Baptist Christian, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Hardin County will venture away from home to face off against Steeleville at 6:00 p.m. on December 1. As for Northside Baptist Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Century at 5:30 p.m. on December 11.
