Football Game Preview: Starr's Mill Panthers vs. Marist War Eagles + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Starr's Mill Panthers and the Marist War Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Starr's Mill has given up an average of 27.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Starr's Mill took on Jonesboro two weeks ago. The Panthers were outmatched by the Cardinals and fell 34-7. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 20-0.

Starr's Mill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Erik Lundstrom.

Meanwhile, Marist had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.1 points) and they went ahead and made it nine last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over the Tigers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the War Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Tigers are ranked 160th).

Starr's Mill better keep an eye on James Lasco. He was instrumental in Marist's win, rushing for 77 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Jack Waugh also deserves some recognition as he rushed for his first rushing yards of the season.

Marist's run defense was locked in: Tucker could only muster 0.6 yards per carry. The War Eagles didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.2.

Marist's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Starr's Mill, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
