Recap: Southmont Mounties vs. Cloverdale Clovers
The Southmont Mounties won the last time they faced the Cloverdale Clovers, and things went their way on Saturday too. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Southmont made off with a 35-34 victory over Cloverdale. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southmont.
Southmont can attribute much of their success to Carter Hubble, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Hess, who scored 5 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Cloverdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Noah Betz. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The game was Betz's third in a row with at least ten points.
Southmont's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Cloverdale, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Southmont will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Western Boone at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Cloverdale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th.
