Softball Recap: Kenston Forest Takes Down Southampton Academy in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Kenston Forest rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Southampton Academy Raiders as they made off with an 8-1 victory. The Kavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Aubrey Mayton (2026) made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Palyn Marker (2027) was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Hayden Hudson (2029) was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Kenston Forest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Southampton Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1.

As of now, neither Kenston Forest nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
