Basketball Recap: Hubbard Falls Despite Big Games from Keyvonyai Hawthorne and Anthony Weverka

Hubbard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 40-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hico Tigers. If the Jaguars were looking for revenge after losing 57-48 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Hubbard had strong showings from Anthony Weverka, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards, and Keyvonyai Hawthorne, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. Weverka is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played.

Hubbard's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Hico, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Hubbard will head out to take on Avalon at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hico, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Hico Tigers face off against the Dublin Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dublin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Hico likes a good challenge.
