The Willcox Cowboys will square off against the Morenci Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Willcox not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 26th. They blew past Bisbee 15-7.

Alyssa Gonzalez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Willcox got a massive performance out of Abi Tingle, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI Tingle has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Karlie St Clair, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Willcox kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Morenci had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Roughriders get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Like Willcox, Morenci also got a great game from a two-way player: Cameryn Woodall. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Woodall has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Kieralyn Madrigal was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Khloee Kouts was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Morenci's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Willcox, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Willcox hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Morenci struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
