Preview: Forest Hill Falcons vs. Leonard Lancers
Forest Hill is 6-0 against Leonard since September of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Forest Hill Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Leonard Lancers at 6:30 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Forest Hill and eight for Leonard.
Last Friday, Forest Hill took a serious blow against Jupiter, falling 36-6. While losing is never fun, Forest Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Jupiter is ranked 133rd).
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Leonard, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 21-6 loss to Lake Worth on Friday.
Despite the loss, Leonard saw an underclassman step up: Ronari Wilkins picked up 140 receiving yards and a touchdown. Wilkins' longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Forest Hill's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Palm Beach Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for Leonard, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Forest Hill strolled past Leonard when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 14-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Forest Hill since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
