Softball Recap: Penn Manor Takes a Loss

After flying high against Manheim Township last Monday, Penn Manor came back down to earth. The Comets fell 8-5 to the Warwick Warriors on Wednesday. The Comets have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Juleigh Bowmaster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Haley Kreider made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Zuzu Hardy, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Penn Manor's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-7. As for Warwick, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Penn Manor will head out on the road to square off against Exeter Township at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Warwick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Donegal at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
