Basketball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were outmatched by the Lancaster Tigers and fell 80-24. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 793rd, while the Tigers are ranked 39th).

Lancaster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makenzie White led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 assists. White has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Monique Phoenix, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals.

Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Lancaster, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Skyline will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cedar Hill at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th. Cedar Hill has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lancaster, they will take on Central Pointe Christian Academy National in a tournament on December 27th.
