Not much got past Grayson Schneider, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Caston off the board. Schneider has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tyler Burns was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Kouts' rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Tri-Township. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs & Fillies, who have now won 18 contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Eli Harper made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Harper was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Owen Garavalia looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Billy Miller and Ben Finney did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 2-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs, while Finney got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Landon Garrett, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Kouts lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Tri-County's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Kouts, their win bumped their record up to 24-6.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tri-County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Kouts struggles in that department as they've averaged .470. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
