Basketball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Sam Houston Hurricanes 55-23. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1065th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 187th).

Sam Houston got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bre'Yanna Murray out in front who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jakiyah Caldwell, who scored 15 points.

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 11-19. As for Sam Houston, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-4.

Jefferson will venture away from home to face off against Fox Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sam Houston, they will welcome Seguin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Faith Franklin and Caldwell.
