Softball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Maura Simpson and Kelty Hannan Lead Shawnee to Victory

Shawnee's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let the Graham Local Falcons get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won 12 contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Sydney Blanke tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shawnee let Kelty Hannan and Maura Simpson run wild. Hannan went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double, while Simpson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Hannan a new career-high. Scarlett Crawford was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Shawnee's record now sits at 22-3. As for Graham Local, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Shawnee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Graham Local, they will square off against Carlisle at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
