Baseball Recap: Parkway South Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Parkway South had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the St. Louis University Junior Bills with a sharp 15-1 victory on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jordan Schneider and Luke Sullivan made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Schneider tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sullivan tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Schneider gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Schneider scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Sullivan went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Schneider has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Eli Andert and Holden Hardcastle did most of the damage at the plate: Andert went 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI, while Hardcastle scored two runs while going 1-for-1. Those three hits gave Andert a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamison Lombardo, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Parkway South hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parkway South will square off against St. Charles West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Louis University, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Windsor at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
