Baseball Recap: Manitou Springs Snags Tenth Victory in Last 13 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Manitou Springs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Bennett Tigers 8-6. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Maxton Bolster made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Bolster wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Moore, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another was Hayden Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Manitou Springs is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Bennett, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-10.

Coming up, Manitou Springs will face off against University at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. Bennett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
