California is 0-9 against Monessen since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. California will look to defend their home field against Monessen at 4:30 p.m. California is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Last Wednesday, California beat Bethlehem Center 8-3. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Gabbi Luncinski made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Luncinski was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kayla Saeli was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Aubrey Dearinger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Monessen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-1 to Carmichaels. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Grace Clingenpeel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Monessen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for California, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

California suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Monessen when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Can California avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
